If you are looking for a quick and easy paint recipe for your toddler/child, this one will do nicely. This recipe requires only 2 ingredients plus water. Ingredients are all natural and editable. As some toddlers still enjoy tasting everything they can get their hands on this works out well.
I had recently been thinking to make some paint for my toddler, however had not gotten around to doing so yet. Then just two days ago I looked through my dry foods checking the expiration dates. I really don't like throwing food away, so when I can use it for something other than eating I am all for it. Turns out I only had some corn flour that was now past the expiration date.
Now depending on where you live you may or may not be able to buy corn flour. But do not worry. Cornstarch will work exactly the same. I have used both in other recipes and there is absolutely no difference in the outcome.
Ingredients:
6 teaspoons corn flour
1/2 cup water
Food coloring
Steps:
1. In a bowl stir in cornflour with water until mixture is smooth.
2. Add a few drops of food coloring and stir.
This paint works well for drawing on plain paper. We used a yogurt cup holder for a palate and a q-tip for a brush.
Have you made homemade paint for your toddler? What did you use?
Thank you for stopping by!

This would be so much more frugal than buying paint at the store, and you could do it whenever you wanted. I love this idea!
ReplyDeleteYes you are absolutely right! Buying already made paints can become quite an expense overtime.
DeleteI use the same basic recipe, but it makes much more.
ReplyDeleteI think the next time I make it I will add a little less cornflour as it was a little thick. Though it did work out very well.
